Fundamentalist=terrorist?

Does Fundamentalist equal Terrorist?

It does seem that way. Often the term “fundamentalist” (through the conniving of the liberal media) is paired with acts of hate and violence. Those who blow up buildings or attack individuals or protest funerals and perpetrate other such heinous acts often are branded with the label “Fundamentalist”.

Occasionally, this term is fitting. In the case of Islam for instance, those who blow up buildings and maim and murder others for the cause of Islam are fundamentalists. They believe the exact fundamental tennants of their “faith”, and practice them as they are called to by Allah and his prophet, Muhammed.

In the case of Christians, on the other hand, those that attack without reason and practice indiscriminate hate against any person are not practicing the funamentals of the Bible, and therefore, are NOT fundamentalists.
Those that unquestioningly believe and practice the fundamentals of scripture WILL NOT destroy, murder and otherwise perpetrate acts of terrorism. They will love others, they will show the heart of Christ, BUT they will also NOT back down on the truth of the scripture. They will refuse to back down on the exclusivity of Christ as Saviour (John 14:6), they will refuse to back down on the fact that homosexuality is a sin (Rom. 1:21,26-28), they will refuse to back down on the inerrancy and inspiration of scripture (II Tim. 3:16,17), they will refuse to back down on the Trinity and deity of Jesus (I John 5:7 KJV only),  etc.
In short, a true Christian fundamentalist, while truly loving and ministering unto others, will also purpose to contextually uphold every verse of scripture in their teaching and day to day life.

We are not terrorists, we are not crazy. But that will not stop the world (and many mainstream pseudo-‘christians’) from hating us and attacking our beliefs every chance they get.

While Muslims will oppress their women and children and reduce them to being so much chattel, able to be beaten, stoned, and raped for the slightest ‘reason’, they are left alone and basically slapped on the wrist if not outright ignored. Child protection is strangely silent, Women’s Lib are suddenly meek and subservient.
But if Fundamental Christians so much as spank their child in love, or dare to say “A woman should not preach or practice authority over men in church”, they are labeled as child abusers and chauvenists. They are persecuted and attacked and the media calls for their blood.

While Homosexual activists will attack churches, disrupt services, and beat people trying to witness to them, the news stories are sanitized if not hidden all together.
But if Fundamental Christians are to stand up and say in school or on the bus or on a street corner, or in casual conversation that Homosexuality is a sin, they are chided, imprisoned, attacked, expelled, persecuted and labeled as hate mongers.

Have we been suppressive and abusive? No.
Have we been hateful and violent? No.
Does that stop the worldly media and the wolfish “‘Love’ and Tolerance” pseudo-churches from cursing our names and seeking our destruction? No.

Why?

Because we stand up for the truth. Because we refuse to back down on the fundamentals of Scripture, as Jesus refused. The worldly men and religious vipers of His day hated Him and murdered Him. Why then should we be surprised when we are labeled as hateful terrorists?

Those who falsely claim the name of Jesus are attacked by our very existence because we revive their seared conscience.
Those who curse the name of Jesus and boil with hate at the very mention of His truth are insulted by our very nature. We speak to the fact that they cannot pull themselves out of the pit of their sin no matter how hard they strain against their boot straps.
They all hate us. Not because we deserve it, but because they hate Jesus, because they know not the God that sent us. Because as long as we exist, they have no cloak for their sin. (John 15:21-23)

So we are hated. So we are persecuted. So we are killed all the day long. So we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. BUT THAT IS NOT THE END!  Nay, IN ALL THESE THINGS we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us!
For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
Nor height, nor depth, nor ANY OTHER CREATURE shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Rom. 8:36-39)

So we shall believe in the fundamentals of Scripture. So we shall be known as funamentalists, extremists, and fanatics. Not because we maim, murder, damage or damn, BUT BECAUSE WE SPEAK THE TRUTH!

Continue to speak the truth, my friend, my brother, my sister. Take up the label fundamentalist as a badge of honor. But if you do so, then strive to live by the Word of God every day of your life, that you bring not shame upon the cause of Christ.
Continue in truth.

  1. Excellent !! Especially the exhortation at the end to “Take up the label fundamentalist as a badge of honor. But if you do so, then strive to live by the Word of God every day of your life, that you bring not shame upon the cause of Christ.” I work with “christians” every day whose lives are no different from their unsaved coworkers and it saddens me. I think it also saddens our Lord to see those who claim His name living in open sin. If we say we belong to Him, then let’s live as He would have lived. Indeed, WWJD???
